MISSION STATEMENT
Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering is an institution providing technical education and training to the boys and girls at U.G. and P.G. level in response to the changing needs of industries and the society through a flexible and innovative learning process enabling the students to build productive career and excel in their profession.

Institution offers eight undergraduate couses (B.E) and three P.G.Courses (M.Tech in C.S & E, M.C.A and M.B.A). Telecommunications & Engineering B.E course has been introduced from the academic year 2000-2001. Around 2500 graduates in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering have passed out from this College and have made significant contributions in Academic institutions, Industries, R & D organisations and Government departments in India and abroad.

Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering (JNNCE) was established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society, a poineer society in Malnad region founded by freedom fighters of high repute. The College is affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and also by Government of Karnataka. The College campus is spread over an area of more than forty acres having all amenities to cater to the needs of about 1500 students and 200 staff members.

The institution is headed by Dr.P.Sudhakara Shetty B.E., M.Sc., (Engg.) Ph.D., F.I.E.
Dr.S.K.Raikar M.Sc., Ph.D., is the Vice-Principal.

LOCATION
Shimoga is the district Head Quarters, located at a distance of 270 k.m from Bangalore and is well connected by rail and road to all important cities and towns. The College is located in a picturesque Campus at the outskirts of the city at a distance of about 4 k.m.from the Railway Station and central Bus stand. Located on the banks of the famous river Tunga, Shimoga has a moderate climate throughout the year and is surrounded by several religious, tourist and picnic spots.

Sports and Cultural Activities:

Besides imparting excellent technical education to the students, College encourages co-curricular activities, sports and cultural activities for alround development of the students personality.

The College has provided excellent sports and games facilities for the students under the leadership of Mr.H.S.Sadanand B.Com., M.P.Ed., the Physical director.  The College has a large multipurpose play ground for football, cricket, and athletics, an indoor hall for badminton, and table tennis, and a well equipped gymnasium with Multigym facility.

Every year college ground is spared for various sports events of National and Inter-University level such as All India Inter steel-plant Cricket tournament, Inter State Youth Foot ball Championship, All India Inter-University cross-country championship, South Zone Inter – University half marathon and walking Race. Apart from this, many inter-collegiate sports and game events are also organised.

So far, the college has produced about 150 university players, 25 state players in various sports and games. It has earned a name as "Best Sporting College" of Kuvempu university for its achievement.

Every year students conduct various cultural programmes including state level cultural programmes. The College brings out the annual magazines, "MANI-QUEST" of MBA and "TECHZINE" of JNNCE in which scientific, technical and other interesting articles in English, Kannada and Hindi from students and staff are published.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college is very active in conducting various activities such as seminars on topics like "Personality development, Awareness on Drugs, AIDS, Blood donation" etc. Blood grouping for newly admitted students is a routine activity of the unit. Our Volunteers have participated in ID/RD Parade, at State Level and National Level. NSS unit also conducts programme on planting trees, adoption of villages, blood donation camps etc. Our NSS Unit is considered as one of the best units in the University.

Bank Facility:
The Extension Counter of the Vysya Bank is situated in the campus and it offers banking service to the staff and students of the college.

Canteen:
Good Canteen facilities are provided in a convenient location in the Campus.

Post Office:
A branch Post office is functioning in the campus to cater to the needs of the staff and students in the campus.

Co-operative Society:
A Co-operative Society managed by the staff and students of the college provides all the general stationery items of daily use, books and stationeries at concessional rates. S.T.D., Xeroxing and Courier Services are also available in the Campus.

Transportation:
In order to provide transport facility to the students, five college buses run between the college and every other part of city throughout the day. Buses also operate till late in the evening for the convenience of hostel students.

Hostel:
The College has separate Hostel facilities both for Boys and Girls. Three Hostels for boys are located in the campus housing about 350 boys. The girls hostel is a building located near to the campus housing about 60 Girls. P.G. and Final B.E. Students are provided with single rooms.
